Annual Report 2023-2024

ST. VINCENT PALLOTTI CENTRAL SCHOOL, OLLUKKARA

The Academic year 2023-24 has been a peaceful year. We were completely freed from all the natural calamities and pandemic. This year has been very vibrant with academic and non academic activities. We were able to bring back all the discipline which we lost during the pandemic. Students were able to regain the physical, mental and emotional stability.

Thus, the success of this academic year lies in enabling the students to overcome all the problems that hinder their growth and all round development. The parents and staff worked very hard to mould the students to be better human beings

It’s with immense pleasure that we present the 18th Annual report of St. Vincent Pallotti Central School, Ollukkara for the academic year 2023-24. We take pleasure in summing up all our endeavours which carried us to overcome various challenges in our drive to success throughout this academic year. 

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Excellence in academics is the hall mark of any good institution. Securing 100% results in CBSE Xth and XIIth itself is a true reflection of the diligence and sincere efforts of our students, parents and teachers.

In Std X, out of 82   students 11 students secured above 90% and 69 students secured above 60%. Finu Shaju with 95% was the topper of the school with her outstanding performance.

In Std XII 39 students appeared for the board exam 2023, 14 students secured above 90% and 25 students secured above 60%. Shireen A Salim from Computer - Maths stream with 95.2% , Fathima Ilza from Bio- Language  with 95.8% and  Amrutha Krishanan  from Computer-Maths stream with 96.2% became the toppers of the school. 

INFRASTRUCTURE

The school is equipped with well furnished labs, library, class rooms and facilities for indoor and outdoor games. This year we have more interactive panel board to make the learning process very interesting and attractive. This replaced the traditional system of black board and chalks. We have renovated all the wash rooms in the primary block. Children’s park is renovated with more faculties and renamed as Pallotti Kaliveedu. Two special class rooms are also set up for higher facilities.

STRENGTH OF STUDENTS AND STAFF

At present we have classes from Pre-Kg to XII. The total strength of our school is 1126 . To cater to the needs of the students there are 56 teaching staff, 19 non teaching staff, 5 part time teachers and 4 office staff. The commitment, loyalty and genuineness of the management, supervisors and staff is clearly reflected in the smooth functioning and success of all the endeavours of the institution.

 CHANGE OF OFFICE BEARERS

Rev. Fr. Antony Herald Roswan joined as the new manager of our school on 1st June 2023. We wish him all the best in his responsibility as a manager.

On this occasion we also express our sincere gratitude to Rev. Fr. Thomas Kuttiyanickal who lead the institution as the manager from 2022-2023.

SCHOOL REOPENING

The school reopened on 1st June Thursday. Students were warmly welcomed by the teachers for  the new academic year. Each and every class were decorated very beautifully to welcome the children. The campus was filled with the energy and was in full swing once again. Special prayer was offered for the students in the grant morning assembly. Children were welcomed with caps and gifts. It was a half day class for the students. The school building was also blessed in the same day.

TEACHERS’ ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

 The school management organized seminars for teachers from 29th to 30th May 2023.

Mr. Sayed Haris had an interactive motivational session with the teachers on 29th May. He shared informations about life skills, emotional intelligence, conflict management and time management and on 30th May Mr. Prince V Thomas conducted a session on latest NEP system to be adopted and practiced in all the CBSE school during the academic year 2023-24. The seminar was informative and beneficial.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

We have restarted activities like Karate, Roller skating, Chess, Kungfu, Kalari, Classical dance, contemporary dance, instrumental music, and abacus for this year with the aim of training the students in different skills. Football coaching camp also started during this year.

In association with Zeta Academy, Foundation course was continued this year also for class 6-8 with the aim of preparing the students to face various competitive exams and also to develop their application skill.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

In order to promote multi dimensional skills we have various clubs such as literary club, science club, social club, nature, maths club, sports club, Reading club, arts club, health and yoga club. Various programmes are organized by the club members such as 

  • A vayanakalari programme was conducted in association with Malayala Manorama Nallapadam and Veliyath opticals. It was decided to sponsor Malayala Manorama daily news paper for the children by the Malayala Manorama. It was innovative programmed for the children to involve the importance of reading.
  • Health and safety club conducted an eye check up campaign in the school with the help of Little flower hospital Angamaly on 30th June Friday. Children were allowed to check their eye sight and further advices also given by the camp people
  • In connection with Environment day, June 5th, students planted seeds and saplings.

THEME BASED SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES

Theme based special assemblies were conducted by all classes which helped the students to inculcate moral values, communication skill, and to exhibit the talents and creativity.

SCHOOL ELECTION AND STUDENTS PARLIAMENT

School election was held in order to give a unique opportunity for the students to elect their leaders.  The following students were elected for various responsibilities. 

Haroon Haris of XIIth std was elected as senior head boy and Lovina Tess Francis of XIIth as senior head girl. Ashlyn Biju of Xth std as head boy and Hena Maria  of Xth std as head girl. 

The elected school leaders along with house wise leaders were made ministers and allotted them ministries such as discipline, cleanliness, communication and sports. The student parliament is organised once in a month which provide them opportunities to bring out their problem and suggestions for the betterment of the school.

PTA

PTA General body meeting, executive meetings and class wise parents meetings were organized to discuss and evaluate students’ progress. Mr. Manoj Kammath was selected as the PTA  President and Mrs. Sandhya Pramod as the Vice President for this academic year. A seminar for the parents on the topic ‘Behavioural changes among the students’ was conducted by the school counselor Mrs. Mini Babu in the school auditorium.

An orientation class was arranged for parents on the topic ‘New generation parenting’. The class was handled by Dr. Siju Thomas Tottapilly, the resource person from Oxford Publications

SOCIAL COMMITMENT

In order to motivate our students towards social commitment we have undertaken the following programmes: Students bring food packets class wise on a regular basis and distributed to the cancer patient of the District hospital.  Our students also collaborated in various activities with the Nallapadam programme of Malayala Manorama. 

We participated in a program called “Together for Thrissur” envisaged by the Thrissur District Collector Mr. Thejus Krishna where we adopt 25 extremely poor families and give food kits every month. And this year instead of Annual cultural program the school organized Karunya Fete through which we generated fund for charity purpose. The Karunya Fete held on 12th Jan 2024 consisted of Lucky draw, Biryani challenge entertainment programs and food fest. We were able to collect Rs. 5,96,220 for charity purposes. 

VARIOUS COMPETITIONS

Various competitions were held in and out side the school such as school Kalotsav, literary competitions, kids Kalotsav, Sahodaya Kalotsav, quiz competitions, and various scholarship exams such as IOQM, NSE 2022, SEAS, Hindi Sugama and orange global Olympiad.  This year 181 students participated in the district level Sahodaya  and won many prizes.

Sahodaya Kalotsav competitions for the year 2023-24 was conducted for three days at Ansar English school Perumbilavu. Students of both individual and group items were sent for the competitions. Many students secured prizes and grades. Aina Anna of Class X has secured first prize in Kuchipudi and Mohiniyattam. Arfaz Fardheen has secured first prize in Mappilappattu. Both the first prize winners competed in state level competition and secured A grades.

Kiddies Sahodaya

Kiddies Sahodaya for the academic year 2023-24 was conducted on 19th January at Paramekkavu Vidya Mandir Thrissur LKG to STD II. Children participated in various competitions and bagged A and B Grades. Yashvardhan from UKG has secured first prize in Malayalam story telling. KG section has secured the overall 2nd position and received trophy. Overall 6th position has secured by our school.

Students have won accolades in various competitions. To begin with the district Sahodaya Competition

  • Aina Anna of Class X has secured first prize in Kuchipudi and Mohiniyattam.
  • Arfaz Fardheen has secured first prize in Mappilappattu.
  • Jude Mariya Titus secured 3rd  Prize for 500m rink &1000 m rink in Kerala State Roller Skating Championship 2023-24
  • Antonio Titus 2nd Prize for Rink 1000 m
  • 3RD Prize for 500m rink & Road  1 lap in District Roller Skating Association Championship 2023
  • Best camera man and best female student artist award were given to the short film ‘Kakkakannukal’ produced by our school.

Other celebrations and programmes in the school

To imbibe the significance of various occasions we celebrate the following days, independence day, Yoga day, Teachers’ day, Childrens’ day, Annual sports day, Kerala Piravi, Gandhi Jayanthi, Hindi Diwas, Onam celebration and the most significant event of the year was Karunya Fete celebration raising fund to help the poor people. Apart from these celebrations various special days were organized for the KG section such as Fruit day, Chocolate day, Super Hero day, Rainbow day etc. KG section will also organize oral Display and Graduation day in the month of February and March respectively

Conclusion

Pallotti group of institutions with the motto “To enlighten All” continues to march forward in shaping the future of our young minds. Pallotti school in Thrissur also share this mission of enhancing our children to use their talents for the betterment of humanity and prepare themselves socially committed citizens.
